At the overwhelming request of residents at the February 2009 HOA meeting, the board has reserved $10,000 of your money in the 2009 budget to be applied to snow plowing. Our landscaping company will also be our snow plowing contractor. We have met with him several times and again at the 10/26/09 HOA meeting. This will be a learning experience for us and ask for your patience in this process. We want to make sure we only plow and/or salt when it is truly needed so that we can conserve funds when practical. Please feel free to come to any HOA meeting before it snows so you understand the details involved in this contract. As a reminder, the current plan you asked for is for the entire neighborhood to be plowed. This is what we have negotiated with our contractor. The main roads with hills through Copperfield will also be salted. Salting is an expensive way to clear the roads. We investigated salting all roads but found that a budget increase (and a homeowners assessment increase) beyond $10,000 would be needed for this service. Attached is the route that will be salted when it is deemed necessary. ———————————————————————
Copperfield Snow Removal Plan
To all residents, the Copperfield Homeowner Association (CHOA) would like to share our snow removal plans for the 2009-2010 season. All streets and cul-de-sacs will be plowed. Clubhouse sidewalks and public areas shoveled when required only. Plowing will begin with approx. 2 – 4 inch snowfall. Residents are requested to remove all street parked vehicles during snow plowing days. Strategic salting will take place on the hills/slopes of Wickfield Dr., Micawber Way, Nickleby Way and Glendower Dr. Based on snow accumulation, same day - multiple plowing may be required. School systems with bus routes through our neighborhood will have access to bus stops within Copperfield. Initial plans may be adjusted during the snow season, to meet safety and budget concerns. We ask for your cooperation and patience, as this will be our first undertaking of snow removal. Residents may email Hotline@copperfieldky.com , mark Subject line “Snow Removal”, or call 254-2113 to voice or share any concerns.

Snow Plowing Letter Campaign 4/30/09 Several residents have expressed their disapproval of their HOA money being spent on snow plowing. It is a significant and varying expense based on weather conditions and the level of service you desire. Please see the budget on this web site for the money reserved for this effort. Some residents believe this is a city responsibility and should be financed by the metro government. We particularly believe school bus routes should be plowed. The HOA and these residents urge you to contact the JCPS, Hal Heiner and Jerry Abramson to express this opinion. We are aware that the main streets in Owl Creek are plowed and believe we deserve the same service. The HOA has sent letters to all these offices requesting service but we have received negative responses to date. |
