Security 6/17/09

Clubhouse grounds security has been an issue for some time.   The issues have escalated recently.  At the request of several homeowners, and the local police, we are forming a team to evaluate the monitoring options.  Several surrounding neighborhoods have already taken steps in this direction with some success and we will use their experiences and some local experts to help us evaluate the need for security on the grounds and the investment required.  If you have interest or expertise in CCTV systems then please contact hotline@copperfield.com.

Playground Update 6/17/09

The playground team met on 5/13/09 to review the bids for the new playground.  The team in attendance made a unanimous decision to recommend the use of little tikes. This recommendation was be made at the HOA meeting on 5/20/09 and approved.  The design of choice looks very similar to the figure below.   The team is working with Bluegrass Recreational Products to finalize the site plan, construction, and financial terms.  The total installed price for the equipment is $31,264.  This is over $6000 under budget.  There is a local charity that has shown interest in removing the current equipment.

Several volunteers have been involved for several months in designing, evaluating and supporting the playground effort.  Thanks go out to John Barney, Derek Siebert, Janette Smith, Sean Kuntz, Tony Gauntner and Bob Teta for their time and efforts.

The HOA has budgeted for this project for 7 years.  We are in a solid position financially on this project and, due to a less than desirable economy,  we were able to get pricing that was 20% below initial quotes last year.  The HOA will take out no loans for this project and no other projects will suffer due to this planned capital improvement.

The playground equipment is schedule do ship from Missouri on 6/17/09.

Snow Plowing Letter Campaign 4/30/09

Several residents have expressed their disapproval of their HOA money being spent on snow plowing.  It is a significant and varying expense based on weather conditions and the level of service you desire.  Please see the budget on this web site for the money reserved for this effort.  Some residents believe this is a city responsibility and should be financed by the metro government.  We particularly believe school bus routes should be plowed.  The HOA and these residents urge you to contact the JCPS, Hal Heiner and Jerry Abramson to express this opinion.  We are aware that the main streets in Owl Creek are plowed and believe we deserve the same service.  The HOA has sent letters to all these offices requesting service but we have received negative responses to date.

Subscribe For E-Mail Alerts 2/4/09

NEW!  The HOA has now developed an e-mail blast subscription service.  This service will allow you to subscribe to be on a bulk e-mail list.  The HOA will use this list to send out periodic updates on issues and happenings in the neighborhood.  It is one more way we can contact you and you can get information about critical issues.  If at any time you would like to be removed from the e-mail list you simply click on the “unsubscribe” in an e-mail that is sent to you.  If your e-mail changes then unsubscribe from your old e-mail address and subscribe again with your new e-mail address.  We have developed,  and continue to maintain, our own web site so you can be sure that information sent to us will never be shared with any outside vendors.

Subscribing is fairly straight forward and I have tested it with some Copperfield residents already.  If you have any trouble with this then please do not hesitate to contact Bob Teta at Hotline@CopperfieldKY.com.   Here are some pointers:
